It's make-up time!

Time for a mega-large update because I've missed a few days.

My apologies!

I had an appointment the other morning and was not able to run. I made it up last night. This was my first time running in the evening. What a difference it made! It was a lot hotter than my morning runs and my legs were aching before I was even halfway finished. However, I set out with determination and finished the run. It was great to get it done!

My wife and I both broke boards at a recent seminar. While I've seen them broken through force and anger, we were learning how to do it with ease ... just raise the hand, exhale gently and the hand goes through the board. It's more on the concept of Power vs. Force. This mother and daughter team also break boards ... and build stronger bonds.

How about a gadget that promises to "increase bone density, muscular strength, flexibility, metabolic rate, connective tissue regeneration, while reducing arthritic pain, muscle soreness and Cortisol, without having to exert much effort?" According to this article, it's out there.

Women, finally! There is an article that promises to unlock your myths while appreciating your complexity. It covers everything from tanning inside or outside, your metabolism, drinking caffeine before exercise and where stretch marks come from.

It's important to understand how important it is as parents to learn the nutrition needs of your children. Just because you are excited about eating raw foods or going on a juice fast doesn't mean it's appropriate for younger children. Babies are especially sensitive, as this unfortunate news item shares.

If you or someone close to you is prone to epileptic seizures, you'll receive value from this article about some natural ways to address the issue.

If you want a "perfect diet" then keep it simple, okay? Of course, you could always try to eat like a bushman.

Finally, I've found a nutritionist I can agree with. Check out Cyndi O'Meara who thinks chocolate can be healthy and loves a good cup of coffee. Wow, she could be my twin! I love the 80-20 rule ... 80% healthy, 20% enjoy yourself. Now isn't that refreshing advice?

The average person consumes 33 teaspoons of sugar every day, according to this article. For the real scoop on sugar, read The Sugar-Coated Truth, an excerpt from Lose Fat, Not Faith.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is developing a nutrition game for children ... unfortunately, it's based on the food pyramid, which in my opinion causes people to end up with a pyramid figure. Another sad fact: obesity in boys and girls has quadrupled in 25 years. One mom is doing what she can to get kids into the gym.

So how much exercise do we really need to lose weight?

Our favorite fat man walking is, well, still walking ... although he's taking a bit longer than planned.

I still recall meeting an 80-year old woman at my daughter's gymnastics class in Spearfish, South Dakota. We were talking about how dry the winter was (I was upset because I bought a season ski pass and only got to ski a few times). I was amazed when she shared that while she does not enjoy downhill skiing, she had started cross-country skiing at the age of 65! After 15 years, she finally decided that her legs couldn't take much more and was going to do some swimming instead. Ski walking is becoming more popular with seniors ... and take my word, it's good exercise!

If your health or improved quality of life aren't good enough motivators to lose weight, how about shedding pounds to improve your sex life?

Employers should take heed: poor nutrition harms productivity. It's time to swap those soda machines for bottled water and trade out the vending machines for a fresh foods deli.

If you're looking for a fun way to burn calories, how about dancing?

In other news, you might consider trading your hamburger for a glass of wine instead — obesity is a bigger risk to liver than alcohol.

Weight loss by telephone does work, according to a recent study.

If you're having trouble convincing your significant other of how important it is that you purchase an iPod, why not share that iPods can help you lose weight?

Did you know that Vitamin D may be linked with having a healthy mouth? That's news to me!

Don't forget that we now have our stock of the 10 Fat Mistakes CD ... pick up your copy and I will personally ship it to you within 1 to 2 business days!
