I'm back from my travels and what a pleasure it was.
It's been such an awakening for me to begin my own business that involves coaching and speaking. I used to be that person on the plane who would curl up into his shell and look at the floor to avoid eye contact. I'd travel all over the world without really knowing anyone sitting within two feet of me.
Now I realize what a blessing it is to go out and meet fascinating people. I wonder if insecurity in some strange way is really a relic of the ego? It seems that the ego wants to compare us to everyone else, and that can either lead to a feeling of inferiority or superiority. When we truly relax and realize it's not about me, but that I can learn from others, it takes on a new quality.
I connected with a woman who lives in Europe and has spent extensive time in Rome and other parts of Italy, lives part of the year in Germany and travels to the United States as well. She speaks I believe four languages, maybe five. I met another woman who was flying back from an interview and shared with me her knowledge of the Cedar Rapids area. A beautiful couple from Toronto were traveling down to Longboat Key for the winter. How excited, to think how few degrees of separation a smile and a handshake can take us from places around the world!
The coaching sessions was incredible. I always share that I learn from my clients just as they learn from me. I received quite a bit of peace and calm on this trip because of the area I was in. I enjoyed the time and took back with me a greater passion and vigor for what I do.
I speak about synchronicity quite a bit. I want to share something I believe is very synchronistic for those of you who still are seeking signs that there is more purpose to life than random chance.
For flying out, I chose a series of CD sets that I've been listening to over the past year, called The Money Masters. The link will take you to a shopping cart, and I own every disc in that library. It is all excellent material. The Money Masters series features several different speakers who have "been there and done that" and they share the keys to their success. For the trip, I pulled out the discs by my mentor, Jeffery Combs, and another amazing individual, Frederic Lehrman.
On one of the CDs, Frederic talks about the morphogenetic field. I won't bore you with the details ... you can find those out here, here, here, and through a google search on the term, "Morphogenetic field."
I'm going to oversimplify. The concept is simply that there is a field like gravity that contains patterns. When you do something, you can create a new pattern in this field. We are all tapped into the field and therefore as more people are successful, it becomes easier to learn through this field. Again, that is oversimplified but basically when the 4-minute mile barrier was broken, it created a new "M-field" for running a mile in under a minute. This, in turn, led to many other people breaking the 4-minute barrier in a relatively short period of time.
There are other experiments that lend credibility to the field, if you dig into the links above.
So what does this have to do with fitness? When I first founded my company, I had this overwhelming sense that to tackle helping others combat obesity, I would have to create a literal empire to reach the millions of people who are overweight or obese. The morphogenetic theory, however, says I don't have to do that (although it would be nice for business, it's not a requirement to reach my mission of transforming millions of lives). Why? Because if I can even couch a few of you to overcome your patterns of living overweight and obese, then we can create a new M-field for becoming and living healthy. This, in turn, will help others around the world ... and make it "easier" for them to break that barrier.
I think that is so powerful and exciting and it lets me focus on my individual clients because I don't worry about how many people I reach, but instead how effectively I break through with the people whose lives I touch.
Somewhere back when I began writing this, I mentioned synchronicity, another idea that is a little out of the ordinary for most people. That's okay, because to take on the extraordinary task of transforming the health of the world, we're going to have to embrace some extraordinary methods to do so. Read more about synchronicity here, here, and here, and then learn how to tap into sychronicity for Creation on Demand by listening to Jeffery's CD.
So, I was discussing the morphogenetic field with my client and we happened to talk about the one experiment that many people believe really proves the theory. It is described here as "British biologist Rupert Sheldrake took three short, similar Japanese rhymes — one a meaningless jumble of disconnected Japanese words, the second a newly-composed verse and the third a traditional rhyme known by millions of Japanese. Neither Sheldrake nor the English schoolchildren he got to memorize these verses knew which was which, nor did they know any Japanese. The most easily-learned rhyme turned out to be the one well-known to Japanese."
I basically listened to a CD that is a few years old, pulling it from my library of literally dozens of audio programs. This triggered a conversation with my client about M-fields and the Japanese experiment. At the airport, ready to fly home, I decided I was burned out on listening to CDs and wanted to read instead. So, I stepped into a bookstore and decided I would buy the first book that caught my eye.
The Book of Secrets won without contest ... the name, of course, is intriguing, as is the beautiful cover. I like Chopra, so I picked up the book and sat down to read it. I was only a few pages in when I felt goosebumps cover my body, because the text jumped out at me. There it was, right on the page: a reference to the experiment with the Japanese rhymes. I had not ever read that anywhere before, yet here it was, in a book I'd just purchased at random after having a discussion of this unique topic the day before.
Thank goodness I've learned to quiet my life to the point that I can listen to God. He gives us signs and clues if we're only willing to receive them.
How does that feel, to know that if you choose to overcome your own habits and create a healthy lifestyle, you might not just be impacting your own life, but making it easier for others to accomplish the same? Won't you join us and let just a few of you with the courage to succeed create a path for the others who feel trapped?
When it comes to training, no ifs or ands but certainly consider buts ... here's how to get ahead on your behind.
What a great role model we have ... Jack LaLane is still energetic and healthy at 91, and is on the attack against childhood obesity.
I say, "Amen," to the notion that Americans should focus less on dieting and more on healthier eating. Try these Five Keys to Healthy Eating to start with.
So, are we starting to get the picture that you can fight cancer with nutrition?
In Nevada, the schools may lose revenue but the students will more likely lose weight with no junk food available at school.
Just 500 calories per less than what you are used to can result in a pound of weight loss every week ... that's 50 pounds over a year. Here's 7 ways to cut 100 calories from each day.
Whatever you do, don't forget that strength training is an important element of fitness. Speaking of strength training, I got a great workout in during my trip to see my client. She was kind enough to invite me to a yoga class of hers. I spent an hour contorting my body into positions I never imagined possible ... and got a GREAT workout. In fact, my arms and legs were nice and sore the next day. I don't know the style that I practiced, but it focused heavily on core strength and incorporated some great isometric strengthening moves. I gave it a big thumbs up and am considering finding a local yoga class to attend with my wife here on St. Pete Beach.
My hat goes off to Veronica Atkins, who believes that the diabetes epidemic can be stopped and has contributed millions to do so.
Surprise! Getting rid of kids' natural form of school exercise (recess) actually worsens child obesity. What else would it do?
I hope you all remembered to adjust your clocks if you participate in daylight savings time. Apparently, the time change encourages childhood obesity but something tells me that people were rolling back their clocks a long time before obesity became the epidemic it is today. Heck, some doctors even believe that singing causes obesity. Will it ever end?
As the temperature jobs in the northern hemisphere, here are some tips for keeping fit through the cold months.
Want to really make an impact on the morphogenetic field? Anyone who invests in $800 or more of my products will receive a full 3-month online coaching package from me. That includes everything listed here — the e-mail consultations, training guide, nutrition, and more, for 12 weeks. You can pick up copies of the CDs, books, or other items (and note that several of them come with quantity discounts), give them away to those who will benefit (check with your tax advisor to see if it qualifies for you as a donation write-off) and receive coaching to boot. Who's up for the challenge? Just pick your products and I will AUTOMATICALLY sign you up if the total (before shipping) is $800 or more.
Enjoy the rest of this day and have a blessed and abundant week.
