Are potassium supplements safe?
You should get your potassium from your food, not supplements. Excess supplemental potassium can cause a heart attack. A few bodybuilders trying to artificially manipulate their electrolyte balance with potassium pills have collapsed on stage. In fact, it is so dangerous that companies are not allowed to have the supplement in greater than 99mg per capsule.
To me it is almost ludicrous to supplement with this, when through simple choices of foods you can easily take in 5,000 to 6,000 mg of potassium naturally!
The only way you're having days without enough potassium is if you are not taking on plenty of fruit and vegetables. There is no reason you should ever eliminate these, because in addition to the potassium, the phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals, and fiber are also very beneficial for health, fat loss, and muscle gains.
