Men are so lucky. I just had my second baby and even though I take SlimFast shakes and eat a sensible dinner, because I'm a woman the fat is not coming off ...
and I'll never see my abs again. Is there any hope?
A few things to consider. First, we're not "lucky" because everyone is faced with challenges. Trying to decide that someone else has it easier doesn't take you any closer to your goals. There are many, many women who have had many, many children and were able to maintain their health and shape, and those are the role models to look to! My wife had two children, one by C-section, the other natural, and was 175 after having our daughter. It took her nearly a year but now she is comfortable at around 138 and 16% body fat. You are right, it takes time, devotation, determination, and dedication.
By taking SlimFast shakes, you are selling yourself short - you are saying that convenience is more important than your health, to which I disagree. Yes, it can be challenging with 2 little ones running around. A good friend of mine had 3 children in the span of 4 years - so that is 3 in diapers. Yet she manages to focus on preparing healthy meals and focusing on this, despite a husband who travels for his work and the challenge of losing 120 pounds herself. It can be done when you commit to it.
I'd be interested to know your definition of a "sensible dinner."
Being impatient is not a critical flaw. It is a part of your personality that you can use to your advantage by focusing that energy on accomplishment. The issue is that you are pursuing perfection in the wrong way - there is practical perfection and what I would call impractical perfection. Focus on progress and doing your best - that is practical perfection. The more you see your traits as flaws, the harder it is to build a positive self-image to help you achieve what you wish to accomplish. Make no mistake, your goal is less about what you DO and more about who you choose to be - in other words, if you build a confident, positive self image and focus on health and energy, your actions will flow naturally from that state and you will go towards your goal. If you try to train and eat healthy but your self-image is in the dumps, you will constantly be resisting your subconscious and it will be more of a struggle. You deserve to be fit, healthy, and happy, so why not work on being comfortable with who you are right now ... the weight will come off in time, but it is not about dropping pounds and feeling better - it is about feeling better and letting the pounds drop off.
You can do it ... believe in yourself, have faith, and go for it! Your children, your family, and you deserve it!
