Keep an eye out for our tip on how to save $200 off of several of our products and services! Our quotes are for the new year. They are about new beginnings, the truth about endings, and what you can do to achieve whatever your heart desires in the year to come. Goal-setting is always popular this time of year, so I cover a bit about that in my editorial. In addition to featured calculators, articles, and forum posts, our "What's New" section has more incredible (free) audio programs to listen to this month. In training I decided to cover a more practical topic about training equipment - this article features the popular elliptical. I've always admonished that you should Eat Fat to Burn Fat - it's a question of the right fats to consume. Most of my clients start out with their fat levels too low. Find out some of the latest Health News by visiting that section. Jim Rohn delivers a powerful message once again with his Nitty-Gritty Reasons, while my coaching client and marketing mentor Dr. Joe "Mr. Fire" Vitale attempts to answer the question many ask themselves when contemplating the new year - What is the Secret to Getting Rich Today? Understand that in this life, "rich" doesn't always refer to money.

At the end of 2004, we all no doubt were excited to put together our New Year's resolutions. My family gathered in our dining room over a meal of buffalo steak with french bread that we dipped in extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar while sipping on cabernet sauvignon. We celebrated our accomplishments for 2004, then focused on what we will accomplish in 2005.
Notice that I did not mention what we would try to accomplish. This is not what goal-setting is about. If you set goals with no intention to get them, then the exercise is in vain. You must be prepared to commit to honoring your goals.
Self-esteem is tied directly to the promises we make to ourselves. When we break those promises, we lose confidence. When we keep them, we gain confidence and self-esteem improves. It is important to be a person of your word, and keep your promises - even the ones you only make to yourself.
Our goals were broken down into several categories. We have financial goals - things like how much total income we'll earn this year, debts that will be paid, possessions we might acquire. We have business goals - projects we wish to complete, alliances to form, customers to reach. We have "fun time" goals - how we will enjoy our time together and celebrate our accomplishments. This might be a horse ride or a trip to Washington, D.C. or even Costa Rica. We have health and fitness goals - I wish to climb Devil's Tower, ride a bike on the Mickelson Trail, and hike Harney peak. We have relationship goals, for friends, family, and community. The remaining goals are personal - for example, my daughter will complete a cartwheel and I will meditate daily. Finally, we have contribution goals. I have a certain amount I will dedicate to charity, and our family will become more involved with community projects.
Again, the word ... will. Words are spoken promises that should reflect the heart's intent. Language can be revealing. Do you find you say things like, "You get bogged down with bills," when in fact it should be, "I get bogged down with bills?" Most people try to pin their reality on others, and say, "You know ... you can appreciate ... you understand." Do you find you "need to spend more time with family" or "will try to lose weight" or "hope you can stick to your goals?" This is the language of try. Try is weak. The only way to achieve your goals is not to need to achieve them, not to try to achieve them, and not to hope you can achieve them. It is to have faith, believe, and DO it. Don't try - DO.
Let's do together in 2005. There are many remarkable changes on the horizon, and I look forward to being a part of your transformation to better health and energetic living.

The word elliptical means shaped like an oval. In the world of fitness and exercise, elliptical technology is a relatively new, innovative equipment design that draws on a smooth, elliptical movement to provide a low impact form of weight bearing exercise that is fun and easy to learn.
Elliptical cross trainers have footpads that allow you to stand up while you exercise. They have handgrips for you to hold onto and help maintain balance. Some even have handles to use in working your upper body. Because you are standing, the exercise is similar to walking or running. But the arm bars and elliptical motion create similarities with biking or skiing. The main difference with elliptical exercise machines is that although you are standing and bearing weight, which is important to building bone density, your feet never leave the footpads. So unlike treadmills or jogging, there is little impact on your joints and muscles. This provides a low impact, total body workout.
The advantages of this type of smooth, non-jarring motion come from the elliptical design of the exercise equipment. Elliptical technology has come to be known as a combination of mechanisms and design features, unique to elliptical cross trainers, which create a motion similar to the natural path the feet, legs and hips follow during actual motor activities such as walking or running.
There are several different types of elliptical equipment available, and the list of choices seems to grow each day. However, most elliptical fitness machines have a crank arm that is attached to a stable bar at one end and an axis at the other. The axis end revolves as the bar moves and the other end moves in a flat, nearly linear back and forth motion. This causes an elliptical path for the overall movement of the machine. Most elliptical exercise machines built for home use provide resistance through a band around the flywheel. Some high end and commercial elliptical cross trainers use magnetic resistance.
Like a bicycle, this elliptical motion is smooth and continuous. With a stair stepper or other similar equipment, there is a pattern of motion and reverse motion, an up and down or back and forth, to which your feet and legs must continually adapt. At the point where the forward motion ends and the reverse motion begins, there is an impact from the force of the machine, which is still in motion. Your joints, bones, and muscles have to stop the motion and reverse it each time.
With an elliptical trainer, there is no halting of motion and reversal of direction. Your legs keep moving in the same manner continually, even though there is an overall range of motion. Many elliptical cross trainers allow you to reverse the direction of motion by changing a setting. Thus you are able to work the opposing muscles, while still maintaining the smooth, non-jarring motion.
Studies have shown that weight bearing exercises are essential for maintaining and improving bone density. Yet many weight bearing workouts create high impact stress on joints and muscles. This can cause health problems, especially for people with injuries or arthritis. Additionally, many of the different types of exercise equipment available only work one or two areas of the body, which is a drawback for people who want an overall workout.
Under most circumstances, the ideal piece of fitness equipment will be provide weight bearing exercise, while limiting impact and providing for a total body workout. Optimizing cardiovascular benefits is also important. Many styles of exercise equipment address one or two of these concerns, but few combine all the advantages in an overall fitness package such as that provided by elliptical cross trainers.
For example, a stationary bike provides relatively smooth, non-jarring motion, but since you are sitting, you don’t get the weight bearing advantages. A treadmill fulfills the weight bearing aspect, but at the expense of stress to your joints each time your foot hits the running surface. Swimming is a great form of exercise that tends to work a majority of the body’s muscle groups, however, it is not considered a weight bearing activity. When considering the overall needs of an exercise program, few types of fitness equipment meet the overall needs quite as well as elliptical cross trainers.
The advantages and benefits of an elliptical trainer as compared to other fitness equipment are:
Unfortunately, as with many innovative, beneficial, and popular ideas, elliptical technology has become somewhat corrupted by those who want to cash in on the appeal but who lack a commitment to or understanding of the true basis for the design. Some elliptical equipment does not offer the natural, simulated movement of true elliptical cross trainers. Others use inferior designs and materials, resulting in a jerky or jarring motion that negates the value of the equipment.
When purchasing an elliptical exercise machine, be sure that it provides a stable frame or platform, adequately sized foot platforms, and most importantly, a smooth, continuous motion. Try out the machine. Does the movement required feel natural and comfortable? Also check to see if the machine has adjustments for speed, incline and direction.
Elliptical technology, in its true form, is one of the best innovations to hit the fitness industry in the past decade. It truly does address some of the common exercise and health concerns while providing for a relatively easy, often enjoyable form of exercise. Unlike some of the gadgets and gimmicks that have come along over the years, elliptical cross trainers have the ability to help users get fit, lose weight, and improve overall health.

For about 50 years now, Americans have been eating low fat (some no fat) diets and the funny thing is we have gotten progressively fatter and less healthy. Who ever said low fat diets were healthy, and more importantly, why does eating less fat mean you’ll be less fat?
In attempt to keep this easy to understand, as most of what you read and hear is complicated, confusing, and contradictory, I’m going to be direct, to the point, and explain things in a way that most people can understand.
Where to start??? Well, I’ve done some research on this and have found very little science to back up the claims that eating less fat will keep you trim. I have also found many examples that totally dismiss this idea. For example, the French eat significantly more fat than we do here in the US while there obesity AND disease and illness rates are quite a bit lower.
Another example is the Alaskan Eskimos. They consume as much as 70% of their calories from fat (whale blubber and fish) and they have one of the lowest rates of heart disease in the world – until they come to the US and eat like us!
Before I cover other examples I’d like to talk about some the reasons why the “low fat diet” is not only making us fatter, but also killing people faster than you can imagine!
Does that shock you? If so, do I have news for you!
Ok... here are just a few reasons:

So to sum things up...
if you want to lose weight and be healthy – DON’T eat a low-fat diet! You would have to be absolutely insane to after learning the truth about dietary fats. If you have doubts or questions please do some research and you will be amazed at what you will find out. In the meantime, go eat some healthy fats!

A new study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology examined the association of dietary carbohydrate, glycemic index, and glycemic load with stroke risk among 78,779 U.S. women. High carbohydrate intakes, especially diets with a high glycemic load, were associated with an increased stroke risk among women with a BMI of 25 or greater. These findings suggest that a high intake of refined carbohydrate is associated with stroke risk, especially among overweight and obese women. Conversely, the study participants with the highest intake of cereal fiber had an overall reduction in the risk of stroke.
Previous studies suggest that a diet high in fruits, vegetables and whole grains may reduce the risk of developing coronary heart disease. It is still unclear however, whether it is the antioxidants in these foods that are responsible for the protection, or if it is due to other factors.
A recent study published in the December issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has found that people who supplement with high doses of vitamin C could be reducing their risk of developing coronary heart disease. The research involved pooled data from 9 prospective antioxidant studies involving over 293,000 subjects. During a ten-year follow-up, researchers investigated the incidence of major coronary heart disease events in subjects who were without the disease when the study began. Dietary intake of antioxidant vitamins was only weakly related to a reduced coronary heart disease risk. However, subjects who took more than 700 mg of vitamin C daily in supplement form, reduced their risk of heart disease events by 25 percent over those who did not take supplements.
A study published online in advance of the January 2005 issue of Annals of Neurology has found an association between the use of vitamin E supplements and a lower incidence of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
Researchers from Harvard School of Public Health followed 957,740 participants in the American Cancer Society's Cancer Prevention Study II for ten years. A follow-up of 170,000 subjects in 1992 showed that people who used vitamin E supplements for over ten years experienced less than half the risk of dying of ALS than those who did not report using vitamin E supplements.
Although vitamin E was the only nutrient examined that was associated with a lower risk of ALS, it isn't possible to rule out interactions with other nutrients or factors, since people who use vitamin E also tend to use other supplements.
The researchers speculate that the lower ALS death rate among long-term vitamin E users was likely due to a reduced incidence of the disease, not necessarily to a better prognosis among those already diagnosed with ALS.
A study published in the December 2004 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has found a correlation between nutritional supplement use and improved cognition later in life. Cognition is the mental process of thought, including perception, reasoning, intuition and memory.
The researchers found that supplement users scored higher on mental speed tests than those who did not take supplements. Fish oil supplement users were found to have greater red blood cell membrane omega-3 fatty acid content, which was correlated with improved cognitive function later in life. A greater ratio of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) to arachidonic acid was also related to better cognitive function.
The results of this study are consistent with previous reports that dietary supplements may reduce dementia risk and suggest that optimizing omega-3 fatty acid intake may improve the retention of cognitive function in the elderly.
It seems every day a news headline flashes by and demonstrates how powerful antioxidants are for general health. Unfortunately, most people are not well-educated regarding the benefits of multivitamins and therefore "settle" for far less than what their body deserves. Research is typically performed in a quality environment where the ingredients tested are high potency: when the research reports a specific amount, you can be certain that is well within the range of what was indicated. Are supplements that you take off a supermarket shelf subject to the same standard of quality? The answer is NO! The supplement industry is only loosely regulated, and many manufacturers choose to avoid quality control processes. Some use their own, proprietary techniques that are not verified by third parties. Often when they embrace what is known as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), they adhere to the "food" standard, which is far less demanding than the "pharmaceutical" standard. You can read more about these standards by visiting Current Good Manufacturing Practices and USP.org.
There is a great guide to multivitamins called the Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements by Lyle MacWilliams, B.Sc., M.Sc., FP. Lyle is a former Canadian Member of Parliament and Member of the Legislative Assembly for British Columbia. His book not only introduces the importance of antioxidants, but has several chapters explaining how they impact health. It covers the research behind vitamins and minerals. Most importantly, Lyle pulled together a panel of leading nutritionists (all doctors) to find the recommended levels for optimal health. This was called the "Blended Standard" and over 1000 multivitamins were compared against the standard. Only 500 made the cut, and of these, only 5 ranked in the 90th percentile or higher! Lyle published the scores for these top 500 in his book.
If your vitamin scored in the top 10%, that is fantastic! Congratulations for taking steps to protect your health - the monthly investment in a pharmaceutical-grade multivitamin is, in my opinion, a true health insurance policy. If your multivitamin is not superior quality, or if you are not currently taking a multivitamin, then I encourage you to read this to appreciate the value of the multivitamins that I sell (it took me four years to find a company with this level of quality and integrity), and then contact me or call toll-free 1-888-472-2829 to place your order and get started right away! Your health is precious, and I would not ask you to invest in something so important without offering the opportunity risk-free. Our products adhere to pharmaceutical-grade GMP, come with a potency guarantee that what is on the label is in the bottle, and are backed by a 100% 30-day money-back guarantee.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to be motivated to achievement by such a lofty goal as benevolence? I must confess, however, that in the early years of my struggle to succeed, my motivation was a lot more down-to-earth. My reason for succeeding was more basic. In fact, it fell into the category of what I like to call "nitty-gritty reasons." A nitty-gritty reason is the kind that any one of us can have -- at any time, on any day -- and it can cause our lives to change. Let me tell you what happened to me . . .
Shortly before I met Mr. Schoaff, I was lounging at home one day when I heard a knock at the door. It was a timid, hesitant knock. When I opened the door I looked down to see a pair of big brown eyes staring up at me. There stood a frail little girl of about ten. She told me, with all the courage and determination her little heart could muster, that she was selling Girl Scout cookies. It was a masterful presentation -- several flavors, a special deal, and only two dollars per box. How could anyone refuse? Finally, with a big smile and ever-so politely, she asked me to buy. And I wanted to. Oh, how I wanted to!
Except for one thing. I didn't have two dollars! Boy, was I embarrassed! Here I was -- a father, had been to college, was gainfully employed -- and yet I didn't have two dollars to my name.
Naturally I couldn't tell this to the little girl with the big brown eyes. So I did the next best thing. I lied to her. I said, "Thanks, but I've already bought Girl Scout cookies this year. And I've still got plenty stacked in the house."
Now that simply wasn't true. But it was the only thing I could think of to get me off the hook. And it did. The little girl said, "That's okay, sir. Thank you very much." And with that she turned around and went on her way.
I stared after her for what seemed like a very long time. Finally, I closed the door behind me and, leaning my back to it, cried out, "I don't want to live like this anymore. I've had it with being broke, and I've had it with lying. I'll never be embarrassed again by not having any money in my pocket." That day I promised myself to earn enough to always have several hundred dollars in my pocket at all times.
This is what I mean by a nitty-gritty reason. It may not win me any prize for greatness, but it was enough to have a permanent effect on the rest of my life.
My Girl-Scout-cookie story does have a happy ending. Several years later, as I was walking out of my bank where I had just made a hefty deposit and was crossing the street to get into my car, I saw two little girls who were selling candy for some girls' organization. One of them approached me, saying, "Mister, would you like to buy some candy?"
"I probably would," I said playfully. "What kind of candy do you have?" "It's almond roca." "Almond roca. That's my favorite. How much is it?" "It's only two dollars." Two dollars. It couldn't be! I was excited. "How many boxes of candy have you got?" "I've got five."
Looking at her friend, I said, "And how many boxes do you have left?"
"I've got four." "That's nine. Okay, I'll take them all."
At this, both girls' mouths fell open as they exclaimed in unison, "Really?"
"Sure," I said. "I've got some friends that I'll pass some around to."
Excitedly, they scurried to stack all the boxes together. I reached into my pocket and gave them eighteen dollars. As I was about to leave, the boxes tucked under my arm, one of the girls looked up and said, "Mister, you're really something!" How about that! Can you imagine spending only eighteen dollars and having someone look you in the face and say, "You're really something!"
Now you know why I always carry a few hundred dollars on me. I'm not about to miss chances like that ever again.
And to think it all resulted from my own embarrassment, that when properly channeled, acted as a powerful motivator to help me achieve.
How about you? What nitty-gritty reasons do you have waiting to challenging and provoke you into change for the better? Look for them, they are there. Sometimes it can be as simple as a brown-eyed girl selling Girl Scott cookies.
To Your Success,
Jim Rohn

It's Saturday morning as I write this article. I'm headed out to the lake today. A friend bought a boat and wants to take Nerissa and me out for a ride. Since I haven't had a day off in months, I'm ready for the clean air, the sun on my face, and the fast ride with good company.
Still, I'm nervous.
I'm afraid he's going to ask me about last weekend's seminar. People paid $5,000 each and came from across the planet to attend my private intensive event on Hypnotic Writing skills. I allowed only 10 people in the room. And I screened everyone who attended. I was about to reveal the most advanced strategies known to humanity for persuading with words, and I didn't want any riff raff.
I'm not kidding. I even had a guest speaker reveal the chilling little known secrets of persuasion. He had been raised in a cult. Later, he was an undercover agent. He once had a shotgun held to his head for 40 minutes. He used words to escape with his life. It was all, well, hypnotic.
This is the kind of forbidden knowledge I revealed in my weekend intensive.
My friend knows this. Like a lot of people, he's curious. He heard that I revealed the three secrets to writing copy that I've never told anyone before.
He heard that I explained my own private formula for writing sale letters -- a formula I've never revealed anywhere, ever before.
He also knows that I explained my private checklists for reviewing copy. And -- I almost regret this -- I gave away some of my original tricks for making all writing more engaging, almost irresistible to read.
I also revealed my ideas about Hypnotic Graphics, the "intimacy factor," the wisdom in comic books, a lesson from hypnosis, the power of optical illusions in words, the need to strive for the impossible, how to direct the mind, and more. I even explained how people think, and unveiled why I call myself the "Michelangelo of Words."
On top of all that, I gave the 10 people in my event a copy of my new volume, the Hypnotic Writing Training Manual, the definitive, ultimate work I will never sell or give away because it is so powerful. (There's one graphic in the manual so gripping that the man who bound the books for me looked at it and said, "Trippy!")
My friend wants to know what I revealed. He also wants that manual. Yes, he's a friend. But he's also in business. He knows that if he learns and uses these proven methods, his business will double, maybe even triple. People who attended the event said the experience was a "20" on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being fantastic. My friend is drooling.
What am I going to do?
Go to the lake, take the boat ride, and prepare myself to be grilled by my friend, or stay here and work on something important?
The truth is, the question is for you to answer.
That's right.
You.
Do you want to spend the day on the lake -- or whatever the equivalent of that is to you -- or to do you want to knuckle down and make some real money in your own business?
The question concerns choice, life direction, and your own personal power.
Most people get bounced around by the circumstances of life. As I say in my forthcoming new book, "The Attractor Factor," you are the primary creative force in your life. You can choose where you want to go, or you can let the winds blow you around like a mindless feather.
This morning my friend invited me to the lake. Will I go or will I stay here and work?
The answer is obvious. He's waiting for me right now.
But here I am, writing this article for you. This comes first. This is more important. This is crucial.
But what's your answer?
When you're torn between learning how to make a good living online, and a distraction, what do you choose?
Anyone serious about making money or even getting rich on the Internet, or anywhere else, needs to come from a position of mental strength.
After all, many people say they want to get rich. But how many of them are investing in their own success? How many invest in books, courses, seminars, and trainings? And of those who do invest in their own desire to get rich, how many actually use what they learn? How many choose to "go to the lake" rather than implement what they learn?
My question to you today is this:
Who is making your choices?
Your answer is the key to your success.
As for me, will I go to the lake today?
Maybe. Balance is good. Play is good. But I first have to finish this article for you. It contains a message for all of us. It's the top priority. It can help you, and others, discover the secret for getting rich.
Am I worried about my friend probing, wanting to get the confidential secrets of my $5,000 weekend?
Not anymore. I've set my mind to close that door. Anyone who wants my secrets knows how to get them. We filmed and recorded the entire weekend. I'll announce how to get them on October 5.
The lesson here is this:
Who's in charge of you?
Will you read this article and make a decision to do what's right for your goal to be rich, or will you go turn on the TV?
The choice is yours.
Your future depends on your answer.
Your wealth depends on your answer.
Choose wisely.
That said, I'm now headed to the lake.

stand at the edge of uncertainty and unlearn our ability to commit. As children, we would
follow our heart. If we wanted to grab something, it didn't matter how often we fell - we'd
get back up and stretch out our arms and reach for it until we finally wrapped our small fingers
around it. When did you stop reaching?
I mentioned earlier in this e-Zine that I would share a tip to save $200 on our products and
services. For those of you reaching to transform your lifestyle, this may be for you. For a very
limited time, I am offering a special that is unbelievable. You only have to consider every item
I am including to realize the benefit you will receive. Go ahead - try to find it anywhere else
for less, I dare you! I created this package exclusively for those of you who desire to
take action to lose weight but perhaps are uncertain how to begin and maybe don't have the budget
to invest in the resources you deserve. No, this isn't for the athletes reading this, or the
bodybuilders, or those of you who are in shape and are looking to improve your performance. This
is specifically for those of you who are sick and tired of carrying around the extra weight and
want to release fat, live healthy, and feel energetic once more. Is that you?
If you are ready to commit to that change, let's get started with something special:
This is a package that I feel has all of the components you need to start a successful fat loss program in 2005. And just for you - you will not find this offer anywhere else on our website, as this is exclusively for our e-Zine subscribers - we are offering this package that would cost you well over $600 if you invested in each item separately for the unbelievable cost of only $397 USD before shipping and handling. Click here only if you are committed and prepared to lose fat and make a permanent lifestyle change starting today.
