Interview with Rick Almand of Ultimate Best LLC
Rick Almand has been married for 25 years with 2 teenage sons. He graduated from Georgia Tech with a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering. He was a territory manager for 26 years, working for companies such as Eastman Chemical, Daubert Chemical and Bostik (now Bostik-Findley). Rick changed careers after the age of 50 to become a personal trainer. He earned a certification thru AFAA (at age 52) and thru ACE (at age 53). He earned a certification thru the YMCA last year (at age 55) and achieved a 1st Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do (at age 54) and continues training toward his 2nd Degree. His teacher is Grandmaster Hyun You who, among other achievements, was national champion in South Korea. In addition, Rick has been a member of Barrow County Chamber of Commerce (since 2003).
His articles are regularly published in the health section of the Winder Barrow newspaper. He has spoken to various schools/organizations such as Athens Christian School, the Kiwanis Club, and local assisted living/nursing homes. He trains people out of their homes and offices as well as the local YMCA. Rick's mission statement is: "To expand the understanding of physical fitness to the general public and to instill in all my clients the desire as well as the ability to take care of their primary asset — their health."
